THRUXTON RETURN BECKONS FOR BLUNDELL

Mark Blundell is ready for the latest round of the British Touring Car Championship as it returns to Hampshire’s Thruxton Circuit this weekend (17-18 August). The former Formula 1 star will be hoping to improve on his third round appearance at Thruxton, the UK’s fastest circuit, and show further signs of progress in his maiden campaign in the BTCC.

Blundell and the Trade Price Cars Racing Team will be pushing to make improvements after a challenging weekend at Snetterton at the beginning of the month which was hampered by mechanical issues and misfortune. As the Championship enters into its final phases, the HP and Intel sponsored driver is hopeful the weekend’s three races will demonstrate the progress made across the season.

While the Championship’s first visit to Thruxton earlier on in the season did not go to plan for Blundell, the 53-year-old is hoping that this weekend’s return will demonstrate the continued improvements that the team have been making across the year.

“Thruxton was a difficult one earlier this season and a real learning curve for me and the team. At that stage we were in the very early phases of the season but we have come a long way since then. I don’t just want to be saying that though, it is up to us to show that this weekend.”

“We’ve shown glimpses of the performance that we are capable of in recent weeks. The challenge is now to extract that level of performance at the really key moments across a race weekend. If we can do that this time around, we’ll be in a much stronger position.”

Qualifying will take place at the Hampshire track at 15.25 on Saturday with all three races being held on Sunday at 12.15, 14.35 and 15.35 respectively. All the action on race day will be available to view live on ITV4.
